1. Overview

The following describes how to enable and find debug information for the WIA driver.

NOTE: It is suggested that you only generate debug information when instructed by Kodak Alaris Inc. support personnel.

2. Configuring

Turning on debug information depends on the version of the WIA driver (see WIA Versions in the readme for more information on determining the WIA version). To turn on debug information, you will copy one or more files that are provided for you (they are in the same directory in the Integrator's Guide as this file). The location of where to copy the file(s) to is within the scanner’s model directory (see Finding the scanner’s model directory in the readme).

For all wia.dll drivers and for 4.x wiamini.dll drivers:

1.     Copy const.ini to the wia folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\kds_kodak\kds_i4200_i4600\wia)

2.      2Power cycle the scanner

For 2.1 and 3.x wiamini.dll WIA drivers:

3.     Copy wia.ini to the wia folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\kds_kodak\kds_i1200\wia)

4.     Copy wiamini.ini to the wiamini folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\kds_kodak\kds_i1200\wiamini)

5.      Power cycle the scanner

NOTE: After debugging is complete, be sure to turn off debugging by deleting the const.ini (or wia.ini and wiamini.ini) file, and then power cycle the scanner.

The debug information is stored in the same location as the TWAIN debug information. So use the TWAIN UI to create an .eklog file; which can be done via SVT:

1.     Start SVT

2.     Click the Setup button (left most button on toolbar), to bring up the TWAIN UI

3.     Go to the Logs tab (click Settings, then click Device, then click Diagnostics, then click Logs)

4.     Click Save As button (on toolbar in upper-right corner of the tab)

5.     Select a folder and click Save
